| | | Re: spider for ID Looks like a Linyphiidae and probably one of the Lepthyphantes species as was, now mainly in the new Tenuiphantes species ( T. alacris, T. tenuis, T. zimmermanni, T. cristatus, T. mengei being the most common I think).
Or it could be Labulla thoracica!
As usual a microscopic look is required.

| | | Re: spider for ID Yes I went off on one initially, half asleep as usual , and then in a flash of inspiration or recognition realised it was Labulla thoracica without any need to look closer. I couldn't be bothered to alter the posting! it's all an historical record. Tenuiphantes species are all far smaller anyway of course!
Years ago I've spent hours trying to identify a single species under the microscope, only to have a break and return to identify the specimen in minutes.
