| | | Itsy Bitsy Spider Hi all!
Here's my teensy weensy spider! First seen around Wednesday, pics taken yesterday. The yellow and black suggest Araneus diadematus but I wonder if they would be inside, not sure if the black abdomen pattern on the back fits for those at this stage either.
Body length probably less than 2mm. I guess this might be difficult!

| | | Re: Itsy Bitsy Spider Hi tameblackbirds, I have done a bit of detective work. I had a pic of baby A. diadematus just dispersing in my greenhouse last year, they look quite different and I think much bigger. Posting the pic.
I had another spider near the window I took pics of on 12th October last year which could easily be the parent of this one, posting 3 pics (I forgot to change the title of those though!). If that can be identified I think we have our answer.

There is another pic but I have been getting a message saying Admin has banned my IP address on some, it has happened on this one too!
Hi Jason, nope I don't think so. |

Is it like a WAB error, like when you type something in the Gallery search and it says ' There are no records that match your search' or something where the picture should go - or is it like a Page Cannot Be Displayed? |

| | | Re: Itsy Bitsy Spider It's very difficult to i.d. spiderlings. Given that they're indoors and that in these specimens the folium (central band on the abdomen) runs approx. full length of the abdomen as opposed to A. diadematus spiderlings they could possibly be Zygiella species? Zygiella x-notata is found around buildings, particularly on the outside in window recesses and has a distinct full length folium.
Only a guess of course.

| | | Re: Itsy Bitsy Spider Thanks No.9, I did have a resident Zygiella x-notata at the top of the window outside so that is a possibility, if anyone knows what their babies look like If you look at this pic of the other one I had not far from the end of the window, the underside of the abdomen is yellow with a black stripe, and the thorax is yellow with a narrow black stripe along the side, both of which the spiderling has. |

| | | Re: Itsy Bitsy Spider I just looked at some pics of Zygiella x-notata on eurospiders, the underside of one has the same yellow and black colouring as my yellow one so they are possibly all variations of the same spider? Do they vary this much in colour?
