Unidentified crab spider
On side of fencepost - Stony Stratford, Bucks. 29th January 2009.

Size ~3.5mm (taken at 1:1 macro and calculated from sensor).



Help with identification and gender appreciated.

Hi Bruce,

It's a Thomisidae as you say, at a push I'd think Xysticus sp. but not sure enough. As for sexing I think it's shy as unfortunately its palps are hidden - but they look thin so I think it's a lady.

Looks like a Philodromus sp, a running crab spider.
