| | | 2 Spider IDs I should probably know these, I have no doubt at all that they are incredibly common, but I don't know names of many spiders at all (read any spiders!) and was curious!
Very small spider
Very scary leggy spider!

| | | Re: 2 Spider IDs i'm still very new to araneology, so this is just a guess really, but maybe a Pholcus genus from the family Pholcidae ? (for the lower one)

| | | Re: 2 Spider IDs most probably! unless it is the other species ( P. opilionoides), but that is not a common occurrence in the British isles

| | | Re: 2 Spider IDs How small is the first spider? Is it indoors? Difficult to ID without being able to clearly see the leg lengths.
Guessing from the background, if it is indoors, my first thought is possibly Zygiella x-notata but they are medium sized, around 4 or 5 mm nose to tail for males and a bit bigger for females.
If it is smaller than that I would guess one of the 'money spiders' Linyphiidae family, but it would be impossible to get much further from that photo.
If outside, it will be time to think again.
I suspect this will prove to be a struggle to get a 100% ID even from one of our experts. |
