| | | Intricacies of web building How does a spider inside a house with no draughts manage to string a thread from a light across to the corner of a room more than 4 feet away? Does it get caught in a draught from the door opening, does it swing across the gap, does it walk across the ceiling with the thread lifted away from the ceiling to the point it wants to anchor it or is there another explanation?
Thanks in anticipation |

Probably got across using a draught, mind you hot air from the central heating rises to the ceiling, so it maybe used that.

| | | re: Intricacies of web building You might not reckognize it as a draught, but air circulates around your house all the time.
It depends what type of spider it was.
Usually, spiders that build webs, will loose a long, thin stream of silk with a sticky end, when this attaches itself, the spider will crawl along it spooling out a thicker heavier silk to form a support thread from which to build.
