| | | Clubiona? help Hi this guy was found in some external racking that backed onto a hedge. approx 10mm from fangs-spinners. Taken in Bristol (South-West UK). My closest guess was clubiona corticalis but the abdomen seems a bit too pointed. Also online I found it suggested that there were to subspecies of clubiona corticalis and that the uk variety would be c.c.nigra |

| | | Re: Clubiona? help Just going by colouration, which is always extremely risky, I wonder if Clubiona lutescens might be a better match. But there are several other Clubiona species with reddish brown colouration and few clear identification details; such as C. reclusa, C. stagnatalis, C. phragmitis, C. terrestris, and that is just the commonest species which are about the same size. Also from that angle, I wouldn't rule out one of the Agroeca species.
Perhaps one of our spider experts will be able to enlighten us further, but I suspect that a positive ID will be impossible from that photo.

| | | Re: Clubiona? help If there is one thing I have learnt so far, its that most spiders are a pain and need magnifying work to ID. I wondered with this pic though as the abdomen is such a strange shape? Thanks for your input Geoff | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
