| | | Re: Woh! - New Spider Forum There are several new sub forum categories appearing around the site now and some, but not all posts have been moved.
I'ts got me all confused for a minute; although I will probably soon get used to it in a few days.
This will hopefully make things easier for the main insect forum once the 2009 insect season starts in earnest. |

| | | Re: Woh! - New Spider Forum Howdy all,
Congrats Venger, No.9 and all you spidermen
Just a slight question/insecurity though ... what are we going to do with Harvestmen, (Pseudo)Scorpions, Mites and the like?
There is probably good reason for either choice of including (some of??) these, or not including them and I'm quite happy with those remaining in the general invertebrates section, but it'd be good to clear this up maybe with a sticky topic at the top??
Cheers,

Effectively a percentage of the Harvestmen topics is here now, and the rest under "Insects/Invertebrates". Certainly that's only temporarily as it seems clear that the good volunteers that have been moving things over - understandably - triggered on the word "Spider" in the title only. There are also many, many Spider threads still in the main section, that don't have the word "Spider" in the title
Don't get me wrong, I don't care either way - as long as it's clear what is intended. Certainly, the current title leaves no room for discussion, but is that really what was intended? If so, maybe it should be " Spiders (Aranea)", or something like that to make it a tad clearer - and/or add a sticky topic explaining what goes here and what not.
The choice that was made should somehow be communicated - that's all really.
No matter what the choice is, you'll get posts in the wrong place (I'm predicting many, many, spider/moth/butterfly posts in the general section too!!), so the mods have their work cut out anyway
Cheers, Arp

| | | Re: Woh! - New Spider Forum We'll probably be keeping the categories as insects, spiders, moths, dragonflies and damselflies, bees and wasps etc, as they're basic categories that most of the public are aware of. We don't want to scare new members off by thinking they have to get the exact taxonomy right to make a post. It'll be OK if harvestmen, daddy long legs, or mites etc to turn up in spiders, as that's all part of learning about wildlife
