I took this picture at Spurn Head, on the 30 of August 2008. A beautifully camouflaged spider, I assume its usual habitat must be sand!
Any IDeas?

It looks like Arctosa perita plus the habitat is perfect. |

Yes it's Arctosa perita , also a male I think. These are really beautiful looking spiders, always a pleasure to find.
I've observed these conceal themselves under a small sand covered silk web lying on the sand.

The legs are amazingly well camouflaged!
It's also a good shot.

Thanks Jim, it would have been a cleaner shot if not for the post-picnic thumb print on the lens by courtesy of my 4-year old son. I didn't realize until I downloaded the photos later in the day! Fortunately, the cropping got rid of the worse of it. | | |
