| | spider ID Hi my first post, I noticed some scratches on an exterior light which on closer inspection I found to be 2 spiders I have never seen before. I have a photo here: P9200012 - Wild About Britain Pics
I wonder if anyone could identify this for me?
thanks

| | | Re: spider ID Hi
they're Harvestmen not spiders. They are Arachnids and related to spiders but a different order or group ( Opiliones)

| | | Re: spider ID Hello.
I suspect it is male and female (the larger one). A bit difficult to get a positive ID from that image but I would suggest Leiobunum rotundum, although the legs look a bit light in colour. Or Phalangium opilio, but I'm not sure about the colour of their backs. And there are plenty of others to choose from.
This site gives a bit of information about Harvestmen and Spiders plus some images Opiliones There are a few other specialist sites for Spiders and Harvestmen but you really need a firm ID to start with.
And don't forget to do a search of Harvestman in the WAB Gallery. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
