| | | Zygiella X-Notata? This little critter is inhabiting the outside corner of the bedroom window.
It has an orb web on the window but hides out in a webbed over corner of the frame with it's legs on a sensor line.
About 7mm body length, in Warwickshire, England.
Looking at pics on the web it appears to be Zygiella X-notata but then I could be way off base.
The pic I managed is errr fuzzy to say the least*, but fuzzy pic has to be better than no pic
* If anyone knows how to stop auto focus from focusing on the cracks in the wall, trees, houses opposite, etc let me know. I've tried using the macro function but it doesn't seem to do much. |

| | | Re: Zygiella X-Notata? It certainly has the appearance of Zygiella, and the habitat is alright. If it is a Zygiella species, then there should be a section of the orb web missing, a bit like someones taken a slice of cake .
No.9 Spider

How close can you go to the subject whilst keeping it in focus? Say it's 5cms. Focus the camera on a big wall about 5cms from it. Then, keeping the button still held down hold the camera exactly the same 5cms from the spider. Repeat if nessersary.
If not, just keep re-focusing if you don't have a Manual Focus mode.
Good luck!! |
