| | | Spiders 7 Silks Isn't it amazing how a spider can spin 7 different silks for different functions. Amazing creatures. I expect the spider experts could expand on these for you. Stronger than steal too. Just fascinating.

I read a short article (New Scientist I think) a couple of years back about research being carried out into the possibility of producing a form of artificial spider silk. One possible application was ultra-thin sutures for use in micro-surgery. No idea what progress has been made since the article was written.
