| | | Re: tiny spider id please This is a juvenile, which always makes them tricky to ID. Looks like it belongs to the Araneidae family, could be one of a few species - I'd need to see it grown a bit.
Do you have a size and location?

| | | Re: tiny spider id please Venger, oh spider man supreme!
Please tell me why I've seen really large bodied S. grossas recently?
Are they still breeding at this time of year?
I thought they did all that earlier on in the year. Do they have more than one lot of eggs?
My daughter was here today with my 1 year old grand daughter. I was just making some tea when my daughter let out the most awful scream! She was gabbling on about a HUGE spider near her foot, poor baby was by now also crying!
I explained that it was only looking for a mate and wouldn't hurt her but to no avail!
I think it is a very large Tegeneria who has been living in an air brick near my back door which is always open and it's seen a good chance!
I hope it stays in my lounge tonight!!!!!!

| | | Re: tiny spider id please A lot of males of various species are just coming into maturity around the end of summer and early autumn, so there's bound to be lots of mating going on. Steatoda sp usually become 'active' from spring right through till autumn.
