I think this is Zigiella(sp) , found wandering about on the floor, i thought i may be x-notata, but it wasent found in its usual habitat ...

Looks like you were right with your guess - Zygiella x-notata.
Guess if you want to build a new web you have to travel to your new spot

Thanks for the reply and ID.

I thought i had better ask because, Z.atrica is supposed to be very similar and the the way to tell them apart is by where you find them

...

They're not that similar Z.atrica usually has red markings at the front of the abdomen , and the head is usually lighter than Z.x-notata.
They aren't as active during the colder months (if there are any)
