But thats going off topic, the native spiders are fine, all except as I said the harvestmen!Eurgh... And Craneflies! Am I the only one to hate them! Ewww my skin is crawling...
Cockroaches aren't so bad, I guess an infestation would be nasty but I actually quite like the little critters!

| | | Re: Are you scared of spiders? I could easily hold a tarantula, and if a large spider is spotted by anyone in the house, I'm the one that usually picks it up and puts it outside - usually the the cries of 'there's a spider, there's a spider.... Get it out, get it out.....Don't kill it, don't kill it....it's unlucky'
But if I happen to be in a dark place moochin around or something, and one drops on me by suprise, I certainly jump! Then I just pick it up and put the spidey out the way. It must be a survival reflex from when we were all wild |

Sara | I am thankful that the Goliath Bird Eating Spider will not fit on my hand, phew
It's funny you know, but before I came on this site, I was frightened of a few things and Craneflies were one of them. I didn't like how they fly at you with their long legs dangling I used to scream when they came near me , however, there was one in my house the other day and you know what, I was actually examining it and it was really close to me and it didn't bother me one bit
Now to the serious stuff, the dreaded cockroaches , I have had a couple of bad experiences with them while I was abroad. In Thailand I was sitting at a bar and one ran up my arm and all hell broke loose, I screamed louder than the singer on stage, and in Goa the shop opposite to the one I was in put the shutters down on their shop and all their cockroaches ran over to the shop I was in , now that was scary for me anyway. I woke up the whole village and every one was laughing at my hubby having to carry me off down the road |

| | | Re: Are you scared of spiders? The Cranefly is the only thing I scream at, usually I am very level headed about this sort of thing but for some reason I completely lose it at the sight of them! Although that is normally when they make me jump when they just 'appear', I dont like how they have their legs when they fly....creepy...but If I have seen them Im not so irrational...I just run away instead... lol
One thing I hate about the summer is all the flying things in the fields and by the river. I love it down by the river but I cannot stand things buzzing around my ears, since I got stung in the neck by a wasp I am very wary of flying bugs.......
I can imagine a cockroach running up your arm cant be a very nice experience!

Sara | I find with bees and wasps that if I stay still and not start waving my arms about they don't bother me. I was stung by a bee on my foot when I was small and I haven't forgotten about that, and a few years ago got stung by a wasp on my finger as I took my washing off the line. Also I was not impressed when I got two ticks on my leg whilst holidaying in Scotland |
