As for books, I have an old Dick Jones from the 90's, maybe something better is out now. |

Hmmm not sure about a beginner book, but Collin Field Guide: Spiders, Britain and Northern Europe by Michael J. Roberts is definitely a good book to carry around with you (if you're looking for spiders that is  )
