what to do with a suicidal spider?

don't laugh!!

though not being a Bhuddist, i am 'wrestling' with the following:
in my bathroom a few days ago i did find a house spider(?) (about 3 cm's with legs forward and backwards stretched, dull black in colour).
she (it will be a girl) was sitting in the bath tub.
i did see her in time, took her up and put her on the window surround (window is open), i hoped she would retake her freedom..
next morning: same find again (same girl), and i did the same...
last evening: again......
this morning: i did this again.............
she doesn't seem to want to go outside (maybe it's too cold now?)
from the bath tub she cannot 'escape', because she slids back from the upright walls...
i fear a next time i will overlook her and let water in and she will pass away..

what can i do??
could i make a small terrarium (??don't know the right word) to keep her over the winter?
and when: what should be in it?
alternative: let her go somewhere in the house.

Think supposedly they end up in the bath because they are looking for a drink (not sure this is always true). If you don't mind spiders in the house I would just release her somewhere else but think I would put her in an outbuilding- shed/garage or similar.

I usually take them out and release them in one of the outhouses, plenty of nooks and crannies for them to hide in.

Usually its the males that end up in the bath.
You sure its a girl? (take a photo if you can - you don't seem sure what type of spider it is?)
All you need to do is hang a towel or a length of tiolet paper over the edge of the bath (from the bottom of the bath to over the top of the the bath) it forms a spider ladder allowing the spider to leave at will.

yes, it must have been a female, because she preferred the bath..

no, a picture couldn't be made as i don't have a digicam that makes usable pictures on this distance.

no, i am not scared of spiders in the house, as long as they are not scared about me

tragic note: i seem to miss her now...
