| | | Big Green Spider Hi quick question. Walking back from work there was a big green spider just walking up the street with a silver small line down his back. Taking his time. any ideas what it i??????? |

| | | Re: Big Green Spider I'm no expert on spiders, but could it be Micrommata Virescens? It is green, and does have the stripe you mentioned. I'm not sure if the stripe's silver, though, or if it'll be around at this time of year. |

This is green (but can be dark brown to orange) with a silvery-white cross on the abdomen, which is often reduced to a line down the centre. Legs are brown banded. An orb-weaver, so if it is this it will probably have been disturbed from its web, or is a male seeking a female.

Everyone perceives things differently, and would describe things differently I'm sure - when identifying things from descriptions on this forum it can help not to take the descriptions too literally, and just suggest something for the person to google and confirm or deny!
