Does anyone know what's going on here?? Is the smaller spider trying to take over the web??





Needless to say, there was only going to be one winner....



The larger one got a few shots in and the smaller retreated. This happened a couple of times until the larger Spider (Female??) knocked the smaller (Male??) off the web

Probably a pair with the male attempting to court the female. He has to play it safe or he could be on the menu.

It's good for the species - the old slow males get eaten (better for the species not the individual - better than been eaten by a bird)

Not all female spiders eat their mates, some stay with each other, so go on to mate with other females. Depends on the species.

Thanks guys for you help. I found the whole thing fascinating and now even more so knowing what was going on. I thought it was strange because I have never seen two Spiders on the same web before.
