| | | Re: Conkers to keep spiders away i found this very effective ... try tyeing a spider on a bit of string and use it to play conkers with, you should see all its mates run out the door quick enough....

| | | Re: Conkers to keep spiders away So we had this conker tournament in work (I work for a kids cartoony social networking site...this kinda thing is normal for us) and have quite a few left over so im going to see if theres any truth to this apparent old wives tale. I usually get a lot of big house spiders in my house especially around this time of year as well as those little athletic ones that seem to be everywhere just now (right now there are at least 6 in my bathroom ceiling). I am only doing this to see if it works at all as I normally actively encourage spiders and usually just leave them be in my house (unless they are in the bath or something) especially as I get the odd escaped cricket from my geckos.
So starting tomorrow I'll put conkers in my bedroom, bathroom and living room. Should I be piercing the conkers yeh? |

| | Re: Conkers to keep spiders away It is true! Although I have none at the moment due to moving home!
but at my old house i use to have a conker in every corner and behind all sorts of things like my bed and tv.
I put them in windows and by my door, they can make nice decorations too!!
It does work tho! I didn't have a spider in my room for at least a year! till ofc I had to get more!
need some now tho! I haven't slept tonight due to a creepy nasty spider in my room! |

How about a competition for the best 'spider on a conker' shot?
Regards,
Matt

I have conkers in every room.. My husband just scoops them up (spiders not conkers) and puts them outside! I know that i'm ridiculous i can't even remember anything that would have triggered this phobia. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
