| | Any Ideas On This Spider? I didn't think to get a picture! I saw a small, mint-green coloured Spider with a distinctive red spot in the centre of its abdomen. It was in it's web on a bush in my garden. It was probably no bigger than the size of a 5 pence piece, including the legs. |

| | | Re: Any Ideas On This Spider? Could be one of many spiders - more info is needed
Does it have stripy legs, is there any patterning on the abdomen, any parallel black dots? how red is red? What time of day did you see it.
Suggestions:
Enoplognatha ovata - these can vary quite a bit.
Araniella cucurbitina
Araneus marmoreus var. pyramidatus
However these are really rough guesses.
Have a looks at this site (I keep using it as it's quite easy to navigate)
Find something thats similar or the actual spider and we can go from there: UK spiders More UK Spiders - look at the orb weavers.
Anyway, hope this helps

| | Re: Any Ideas On This Spider? Thanks guys - it appears to be a Nigma Peuella or however you spell it! In answer to your questions, it is all over mint-green including the legs, the only markings appearing to be the reddish-orange spot on its abdomen. So it seems to be this Nigma Puella thing. Cheers! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
