| | | What about Wasp Spiders? Anybody spotted any yet? I would really like to get some good shots of them this year. Is it too early for the huge, egg filled females?

| | | Re: What about Wasp Spiders? A few weeks ago I found an uninhabited web with the tell-tale white streak down the middle in my field. I'm not sure where the owner was, maybe it got washed away by the rain! Last year I noticed the large females in late August. They might be around, but I find them surprisingly well camouflaged, probably even more so when they're smaller!

Guy | Ooo. How exciting. I keep looking on grasses and herbage at about 18 inches of height. We had a good few on our reserve last year. There's a plentiful supply of grasshoppers for them too.

| | | Re: What about Wasp Spiders? Typical, the day the camera gets sent away to be repaired is the day I find the first one in the field She's fairly small at the moment, needs a few more grasshoppers, I may get a shot later with the old compact camera.
