Exclamation Another UCO....or spider !
Unidentified Crawling Object...

I found this critter this morning...It has a very flattened abdomen, with no real markings as such. It was hiding in the burner head of an unused patio heater...

I've had a look on the net but I cant reeally se anything similar except a Lace Weaver Spider , but the markings don't really match...

It's very flat, it's now crawled into a gap between two decking boards about 3mm wide.

Any ideas?

A look in my collins field guide of spiders and It very closely resembles the picture of Nuctenea umbratica, one of the Araneidae, or orb web spiders

Nice photos btw

edit just looked at the txt (always helps! lol) and it says it can be darker than the picture and hides in cervices during the day so im 99% certain it is 1 Also says it usually comes out at nite to build a web and hunt night flying insects like moths.
