| | Adder Survey Suffolk Did my annual Adder survey today at Dunwich Suffolk
97 Adders, 12 Grass Snakes, three Slowworms and six Common Lizards.
This time last year I had over 100 Adders. Today these were mainly males and only two females were seen. |

I would guess a lot of the females are yet to emerge then. That's still an excellent tally of reptiles though! Good to see you back! |

My wife and I have tried so hard to take photographs of adders but only managed one this year so can you politely suggest where we might go to have the chance of sighting and photo opportunities next spring and summer please?

WE are in our seventies but remain enthusiastic about all aspects of wildlife.
Thank you,

| | | Re: Adder Survey Suffolk Hello again Brian.
This is quite an old post (March 2007) and colinaj no longer posts on WAB and knowing the poster very well, I have good reasons to strongly doubt these figures (the ratio of snakes to lizards is most suspect)
Both Margaret and yourself have the respect of many conservationists in Suffolk, so I strongly suggest you contact the SWT at Ashbocking and ask them to put you in touch with the Suffolk Amphibian and Reptile Group whom I'm only too sure would be very pleased to show you some good spots personally.
Don't forget we are very fortunate in Suffolk to have the top reptile consultancy in Britain in the shape of Jim Foster and Herpetofauna Consultants. International LTD. based somewhere near Halesworth (WAB rules say I cannot give full address of a business)
Jim does a lot of work for Natural England, so is a busy chap, but he's very approachable and I'm sure he'd be pleased to assist you in some way.
Good Luck and I look forward to seeing more of Margaret's photo's in the EADT.
