New forest Adders

Tonight on BBC2 at 9.50 is a 10 minute programme on New Forest Adders, It is a repeat but I haven't seen it before.

thanks for the heads up....i'm heading that way quite soon and it'd be wicked to see them...hopefully this program will tell me where they are!

For snakes you just need to head out on the heathlands at Wareham, Dorset. lots about down there.

Grass,adder,slow worm and smooth snake can all be found.

Do not disturb any of them if you find them, they can often be found sitting on rocks etc.

They can be photographed quite easily with a medium zoom from a safe distance.

I knew some people who lived in Wareham and Adders used to nest in their compost heap every year. It made gardening a bit problematic. lol

Doubt it will tell you where they are (all over the place) but PM me if you need more details.

You could always visit the New Forest Reptile Centre, they've got all the native reptiles and amphibians in natural enclosures with netting over the top so good photo opportunities. They aren't wild but it's a nice place to visit and a good chance to see the reptiles close up, although so far the Smooth Snakes there have eluded me!
