| | Common Lizard in my Garden!!! Hi everyone, havent been on these messageboards in a loooong time... how are you all? And whats all this I hear that the BBC have decided not to recreate ANY nature messageboards whatsoever??
Well, back to the subject at hand, I had a little surprise when I walked into my garden this morning!! The first sign I had that something wasn't right was the strange behaviour of my cats - they were all crowded around a tub of flowers meowing and pawing at something that was behind the tub, on the wall. When I looked I discovered what it was that they were trying to eat - a common lizard!!
I know they are pretty widespread (hence the name) but I have only ever seen one once before, so needless to say I was a bit excited! It didnt seem to be in any trouble, it wasnt injured in any way, and I didn't want it to be eaten by my three cast, so I shooed them away and took it up to my local beach where my next door neighbour told me she had found it (her and her children had brought it home after finding it on the beach yesterday) where it made quite a quick getaway!! It was about 3 inches long so I'm guessing it was a sub-adult female, as her underside was yellow orangey colour with only a few widespread spots and her body was slightly bulged. What a morning!! I might be able to get a few pictures up here of her and her release - that is if I ever figure out how!! Lol

Hehe, well in pwllheli there a lots of good places, I could list you some, give you directions if you like First off there's two amazing beaches - amazing as in the wildlife you can find!! My local beach is on the west end promenade by the west end post office, there's sand dunes running all along it, blinkin marvellous for seein sand and common lizards as well as snakes, ive seen quite a few in my lifetime!! LOADS of creepy crawlies there too!! The other beach is Abererch beach, sand dunes there are just..well, bloomin marvellous!! the dunes there stretch for ages and just opposite is the harbour marina and the caravan park where (if your interested, and if your very lucky) you can spot seals and otters and other marine life. If you want more just ask x x x x
