I have decided to keep the pond and have actually got really interested in the frogs already. The froglife website was very useful too. |

| | | Re: frogs, advice needed please you could fill the pond with cobbles and install a safe water feature such as a trickle fountain so the water runs down through the cobbles to a reservoir and is then pumped back up (you can get solar powered models which are carbon neutral and free to run)
that way the water feature will be child freindly , you will still provide a home for local frohgs, toads, newts many of which prefer damp habitats like this to full blown ponds for some of their life cycle anyway , and you will provide a source of water for local birds , animals etc
then when the children are old enough to understand and respect the hazard you can empty out the cobbles and restore the pond if you wish

Anyway, I've managed to upload a couple of images of my pond (about a month after its construction on the footings of the old outside toilet/coal shed):
The kids love watching the pond life and playing with the water. Ok, we all do. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
