I agree that we need to agree to disagree on some points here and move on now. I don't think we need to close this thread but we could now request that all further posts on this thread are restricted to comments regarding the original photo only.

Why close the thread? Just agree to differ. The adder wasn't harmed. it was treated with respect. The photo is fantastic. Stop being so anal and see the beauty of this work of art - in the knowledge that no reptile (or photographer) was harmed.

I think Jaysteel is spot on, I'll let post before him have the (rather amusing) last word.
Back to the original subject, and the comment on DOF. I agree I should have had a bigger DOF, I over did the knocking the background out of focus sadly. I only had a minute or so to get the shots, but its a good thing to remember for next time
