| | smooth newt Not the best pic Know and cropped as well, was sent to me by a Friend wanting to no what kind it is, when I 1st looked at it I have said its a smooth newt most likely from my pond as he lives very close by in fact we share front a garden I am now haveing second thoughts now due to size knowing exact location of were it was seen by his front step and taking a few measurements this newt was at least 4 and 1/2 inches long and I think is a bit dark for smooth newt though lighting dos not help  MIKE 
edit from corner were head is to edge of step along angle newt is at just about 5 1/2 inches

| | | Re: smooth newt It looks very like a Smooth Newt, or else possibly Palmate (most likely Smooth though since you've got those in the garden).
