Help IDing reptile please.

Can anyone help ID this little chap (or chapess) who we found sitting neatly on a chair in our workshop waiting to be photographed. We rarely see things like this locally without searching for them, so we are debating if he is a newt or some other lizardy thing.

It's very similar to the lizard in the last photograph on this page....

Common or Viviparous Lizard - Lacerta vivipara / Zootoca vivipara

...but then it looks a little like the sand lizard at the bottom of this page, too-

-but I'm sure someone with more experience than I have will be able to tell the difference between them for you for certain.

Male Common Lizard, which has lost its tail.

Thanks for that. We noticed the tail regrowth, looks like he's had a lucky escape at some point.

Anyhoo, we put him back out in a nearby field, hopefully he'll be OK now. Still can't fathom how he got up on an office chair though, must have hitched a ride in.
