| | frogs croaking Was out in garden to put some food out for the local hedgehogs and could hear frog croaking in my pond is this not a bit late, I have heard them a few times though the summer the sound they were making is different than what I hear from them in spring what are they croaking for any one know please

An interesting reference to frogs croaking can be found in the Collins New Naturalist Series Reptiles and Amphibians. Here reference is made to three types of calls. Two of these calls are linked to identifying the caller as a male while in pursuit of females.
