Identify, please
Found 2 of these in my garden yesterday , but only got this one pic. being as camera 's batteries were flat. When of them moved thro' the grass, it's nose stretched to a point. It's skin is dry & it has almost suckers as feet--about 6 of them. They were about 4ins long

Hi, it's the caterpillar of an Elephant Hawk Moth.

This looks full grown and is presumably looking for a place to pupate. The pointy 'nose' is its actual head, which it can retract into the body to give its snake impression when threatened. When disturbed, they will wave the front end around to look more dangerous.
