| | | Warning of danger of netting to snakes! This is a warning about the danger of garden netting to snakes.
This morning we very sadly found a dead Grass Snake caught up in our Strawberry netting! No amount of strawberries is worth this death and we feel guilty and regret using the net. Two other people we have spoken to told us that they have recently found snakes entangled in pea or strawberry nets and have had to cut them loose. Unfortunately it was too late for our visitor! |

Advice is to use the rigid sort of net, keep it taut, and to keep it a least 8 inches above the ground.

| | | Re: Warning of danger of netting to snakes! This very sadly happened in my parent's garden - they have a fish pond with netting to discourage the herons. My mother was very excited to see a big garden snake at the edge of the pond - she thought it was sunning itself. It wasnt until the next day when it was still there that she realized it was entangled in the net. By that time, sadly, it was dead. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
