| | | Newts I skim the pond to remove duckweed, which after a brief examination is fed to the chickens. This last time I picked up two newts, I returned them to the pond without thinking to i.d. them but I think they were female commons.

| | | Re: Newts Nice when you find newts liveing in your pond I have a large number of smooth newts in mine and they breed very well in it too, do you know if they have bread in yours. if so be very carefull when removeing duck weed as newt tads offten sit up in the weed, and can be hard to spot when you remove duck weed I take magnifying glass out with me when removeing duck weed to look out for tads and only use small net takes ages to do but worth it.
