| | | Newt Larvae ID hi,
if anyone can id a newt larave which i found in my pond i would be grateful. ive lost my camera (but i will try to find it and take a photo if i must) so the best i can give is a description. definetly not a GCN, either smooth or palmate. it had a golden, yellowish stripe down its back and had a light brown body (it was probably nearlly ready to emerge as it only had small gills left). the underside of the tail was also yellow.
GCN lova

| | | Re: Newt Larvae ID As you say, either a Smooth or Palmate larvae, the two cannot be told apart. |

Also there is a depression to the front of smooth newts eyes which is still visible even when its a young metamorph. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
