| | | please help id snake My daughter spotted this snake while cycling near the Caledonian Canal in Inverness. I think it was about 16" long. I thought it might be a slow worm but didn't think they were so long. Can someone please tell me what it is? Many thanks

| | Re: please help id snake Thank you Jason, thought it might be but I've only seen one slow worm many years ago and remember it being shorter and 'fatter'. This one is much prettier. Mandy |

| | | Re: please help id snake Probably you know this, but a Slow Worm is a lizard, not a snake. A legless lizard, but a lizard none the less.

| | | Re: please help id snake oops, I didn't mention the dead part did I.... yes poor thing had obviously been hit by something, damage was only to it's head, looked like it may have been run over, maybe by a bike rather than car because the damage wasn't too bad. I didn't even realise it was upside down though - how thick am I?! Thanks to all for info. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
