| | | Indoor frog? Hi
I have a very small pond which has previously had frogspawn and froglets but not for the last few years, although I do know that we have a/some frog(s) around. This year I have cleaned the pond in case the silt was gettin in their way. A few weeks ago my husband found a big frog in the garage hiding in the lawnmower grass box. He put it out by the pond thinking that was the right thing to do. A week or so later he foun another or the same frog in the garage again. Yesterday there was another (he thinks this is a different one). While we watched it climbed up and into a hole in the wall on the inside of the garage, it can't get out of the garage. My questions are:
1. Is this ok?
2. Should we be leaving the door open during the day so it can access the
garden?
3. Why won't they spawn in the pond?
Thanks for your help. |

| | | Re: Indoor frog? I don't think frogs could live in my garage its too dry, is yours cool and damp? what could they eat in there and how are they getting in each time? My frogs have dispersed around the garden now and are not using the pond much, I have some upside down pots and stack of rocks for them to hide under.
How long have you had frogs in your garden? they could have been too young to spawn this year.

Yes our garage is cool and damp and we keep all our wood in there for the fire so I'm pretty sure there are things in there to eat but I try not to look for that sort of wldlife. I think it's about four years since we had the spawn and we've had a few frogs ever since. I wish it would come out and have a go at the slugs and snails that are rampant in the garden.
Am I right in believing that they only need the water to breed? If so when does that begin?
Many thanks

best. Could you get a photo ? |

Thanks. |

| | | Re: Indoor frog? Frogs don't spend all of their time in the pond, they go there to breed, if its hot and dry and if the nights are cold. they start to breed in the spring when the water is warm enough this depends on where you are if your pond is in shade and how deep it is.

Breeding generally starts around late winter / early spring (February/March), although it depends on the weather and tends to be earlier in the south of the country. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
