| | | Re: I need help to identify tadpoles in my pond... Frogs and toads have been my passion (sad I know) since I was a small
child. If you put 100 adult frogs into a paddling pool I would be confident
of sexing every one just by looking at them. I have seen lots and lots of
frog tads and toad tads and I would be very suprised if they were the later.
But this is only IMO. |

| | | Re: I need help to identify tadpoles in my pond... Well i am no expert but ....... I am not called Toadpole for nothing amphibians have neen my passion since i could walk (just like shotski above ) and i am 53 now and i would say 100% that 1 2 3 and 5 are frog tadpole in various stages and 4 is a newtpole . Toadpoles are black from day 1 they have shorter stumpier tales ...they swim differently even ...and when you are so passionate about something you just know by simply giving those pics a quick glance that they are gonna grow up to be frogs !!!!! Marion....PS and its NOT sad shotski .....its a breath of fresh air to hear somebody have the same passion as me my friends think i am ''potty''

| | | Re: I need help to identify tadpoles in my pond... Hi Toadpole,
Thanks for the informed reply, like you say just a quick look and you
can see they are frog tads. Even by just looking in a pond 8 feet away
I can tell if they are frog or toad tads they just look and act very
different. N0z I will accept a cheque in the post |

| | | Re: I need help to identify tadpoles in my pond... Can you post any larger photos of these? the newt is one of the Lissotriton species. The tadpoles are hard to make out, the tail structure and colour would be useful but im struggling to see anything as the image is tiny. Head shape is not a reliable means of differentiating between the two at this age. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
