| | | Froglets Hi good evening
Can anyone pass information regarding Froglets.
The last couple of days I have seen an explosion of baby frogs from tadpoles in my pond. I am getting a bit worried for there safety as they appear to be trying to leave the garden. I understand this is nature and respect that and have tried to keep birds and predators away from them. Is there anything I can do to help them???
Kind Regards |

| | | Re: Froglets Welcome to WAB!! I am sure folks with more knowledge than me will be along shortly, but if you keep your lawn un-mowed for the moment, it will give them a good start.

| | | Re: Froglets They'll disperse away from the pond in all directions. I think the main thing you can do is make sure there's lots of places for them (and the adults) to hide around the garden in general, and around the pond in particular. Bare ground immediately around the pond is probably where they're most vulnerable, especially if the numbers atract birds down. So long grass or other vegetation (or log piles) up to the water's edge should give them somewhere to hide from predators and shelter from the sun. |

| | | Re: Froglets Potentially there will be many hundreds - you cant keep all of them in the garden!
they are doing this from my local pond right now too - had to step over them today, but no predators about.
Let natural dispersal take its course and food for others who might well need it for their own young - thats why there are so many...................
They need to do this dispersal to colonise fresh sites and continue to be successful.
Welcome to WAB too.
Cheers
Ken
