| | | Re: Slow worm as a pet????? Come on now Scouse, Kayleigh and the others are right, I realise that and so must you, let's all get on and get back to talking about wildlife...'cos after all that is what this forum is for....if we want to play 'silly -budders' then this is not the place..I did try to get you into the 'treehouse' yesterday, but it all went pear-shaped, 'cos I made a mistake about who started this thread, and brought out the worst in the OP, quite understandably, though I still cannot work out her and Kayleigh's remarks..but that is gone now, all over..let's start again and stick to the 'Slow worm' theme, or at least other creatures similar, on this thread....We are all a lovely bunch really, but we are not Newbies, and we don't get away with breaking the rules like newbies do, but only for a little while.....Right guys, back to wildlife, here we come..Posie.. |

| | | Re: Slow worm as a pet????? Your post is very interesting Neil...it is heavy clay here, but I do have an area 50mtrs x 50 mtrs that is sand, and has been so for possibly18 years, and although obviously the clay is the same deep down, the first couple of feet under the sand is stone/scalpings..so it does drain well, because the layer of stone is on a slope, following the natural drainage of the land...
The interesting thing is that the vegetation on this sand area is entirely different to the rest of the area, plants I have never seen before, as I have never lived in a sandy area..so where do the seeds come from?? they only grow on the sand area, and do not encroach on the clay area, obviously because they couldn't survive, I know, but it is strange to see......So I was wondering if this sand would be a better place to set up for certain wildlife.
