they're all common toadlets and so are the tadpoles if they're still in the water at this time of the year. your GCNs must be feasting!

| | | Re: Baby Frogs / Toads. yeh its weird most the newts seem to be staying in the water now , loads of dead leaves down there at the bottom, do the newts eat the tadpoles then I thought the tadpoles were gonna eat each other so I gave them some tuna lol. maybe thats why so many have lived! |

| | | Re: Baby Frogs / Toads. I think a newts have always been able to get in and out, as the sides of the pool are very rough and cracked and in someplaces even sloped. I could see the newts being able to get in and out without any problems. As for the Frogs and Toads im not so sure, theres a ramp inplace now so they should be able to getin and out if they wish . some of the toads in the pool are rather large, not sure how fast they grow but I picked up one toad and he was as big as the palm of my hands, and I dont have small hands! so either they were just dieing every winter or there living in the pool all the time, theres about 9 inchs deep of dead leaves in the backend over the winter months. maybe there getting under there. I could take some photos of the bigger toads, next to my hand or something or a ruler they dont seem to mind being handled. |

I don't mean far away from the pool just into the long grass beside it which must have plenty for a baby toad to dine on. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
