Amphibians and Reptiles of Oare Marshes

i just wanted to ask if anyone knew the amphibians and reptiles which can be found at Oare Marshes? thanks anyway.

Marsh frogs in abundance - don't think any of the other amphibians will tolerate the salinity of the water there.

Ive heard of grass snakes along the North Kent Marshes but never seen one anywhere along there myself.

i have seen grass snakes in rainham at riverside country park . it seems like there are only marsh frogs around kent. ive heard there are great crested newts at elmley is that true?

No idea about Elmley. Your best bet is to contact KRAG (kent reptile and amphibian group) and tag along on a newt survey to see GCN. On my first survey with the Essex group I saw all 3 newt species!

I've had grass snake at Elmley, but not seen them at Oare. Doesn't mean they're not there of course!

Sorry to be a pain and pull this older thread up! Ive just come back from a visit to Oare marshes this evening. It was great. I loved the little fountain thingy near the car park and the clear stream. Saw Marsh Frogs there but no other sign of amphibians or reptiles. Did see my first sparrow hawk on the road heading to Oare Marshes! Are there any freshwater at that site? Apparently there are grass snakes and common lizards at the site according to the link.
