Red Purple Small Frog, Is It a Common Frog?

I've just been giving my pond a bit of a tidy and transfering some plants to a bigger wildlife pond and came across a small, no bigger than a thumb nail, Reddish Purple frog. We've heard it since the start of April and it makes a lot of noise for one so small.

I understand it is probably a common froglet, but I've never heard of this colouring. Is it usual for them to be that colour and if so is that more common in the North of Scotland?

Any way he/she is now back in it's favorite bushy plant hiding

could be a common frog as red individuals are found.

If it has been making noise then it won't be a common frog. Could you get a picture of it? It sounds like it may be an escaped exotic.
