| | | Re: Slow Worm The problem with exhibiting live Slow-worms is that they tend to hide away most of the time and aren't particularly interesting (since you can't see them). You could of course keep them in a bare tank, with no shelter, but that would probably cause them undue stress. The better alternative is to provide them with shelter to burrow into/under and uncover them at intervals so people can see them, although again you wouldn't want to do that too much.
In the end I suppose it comes down to whether you think the disturbance/stress to the animals is justified by the benefit. If it was e.g. an educational event aimed at raising public awareness about native reptiles then I think that would be fine, and I have personally assisted at such events, but for a general exhibition maybe not. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
