| | | Toad rescued! :-) Market day in Bakewell is not the best time for a toad to be wandering along a footpath in the town!
As people stopped to take photos (including my daughter, with her mobile), I rather spoiled their fun and scooped him up before he met a squishy end! I walked to the river, climbed over the low wall, then put the toad on the muddy river bank where he hopped happily into the water.
I wasn't sure where else to take him/her.....but I'm sure I did the right thing!

He'd probably been trying to cross the road all day and people keep stopping him to take pictures. Being a celebrity is just so demanding
He probably only wanted to go and see his flat mate...... sorry! bad joke |

| | | Re: Toad rescued! :-) Aw bless. My friend from uni used to do this on a larger scale; helping toads cross roads in breeding season, oddly enough called "toad-lifting". Last time I tried to move a toad to a safer place, he peed all over my hand

Hope you not gonna do the same thing next time a Yeti is seen in Bakewell. He won't hop into the water quite so happily!
