With the dreadful news. Surely endangered species like the Adder/Smooth Snake populations are going to suffer
I can imagine a lenient justice system awaits the Arsonists....

It's definitely a worry for not just the reptiles but other species too. Let's hope we get some decent rain that is promised.

These localised fires are wiping out entire populations unfortunately. It is as serious a situation as we can get. Adders especially don't flee from fire, they curl around roots and wait them out. This can prove fatal in most cases. The only ones that escape are the ones that use mouse/vole holes, but even then, they are usually only surface runs that offer minimal to no protection.
