Question Baby grass snake in April?
Hi
I saw a grass snake today (18th April) about 10" long & very slender, definitely a grass snake, with the yellow collar behind the head. It was by some running water & swam across the narrow gully and climbed up the other side to disappear into the foliage. I don't know anything much about grass snakes, but did read the eggs don't hatch till June or July. Is a sighting of such a tiny one usual this early in the year?

It will be a youngster from last year, not a new hatchling.
