| | Found frog with spawn in a bag help needed today i found a frog with spawn in a small carrier bag in my garden with very little water,i moved it into a large tub with some rocks, and it can easily get onto our lawn which is damp,i put frogspawn on rock near surface, its still immature,as in just a black dot, some of the jelly around is just clear, some milky, the frogs stayed in with spawn a couple of hours, hasnt left, will any survive and is there anything else i can do to help them or is it too late in year.? if any hatch i will of course release them into the local pond.Has anyone else ever found a frog with spawn in a small bag in the back garden?
(posted in wrong place first time...) im lost and any help would ease my mind,i know nothing about frogs.

| | | Re: Found frog with spawn in a bag help needed that is amazing ..poor frogs .they really must of been desparate and you have done what you can, but try and get some pond water ..not tap as it has chlorene in it and perhaps a clean bucket .... there is plenty of advice on this forum about water changes and feeding them when they have hatched .....i was just wondering was it a ''Tesco ''carrier bag ..as every little helps and it certainly helped those 2 frogs out !!!!Marion

| | | Re: Found frog with spawn in a bag help needed Hi Geo and welcome, I guess you are relatively new here.
You seem to have done everything with the best of intentions.
The milky spawn is probably not fertilised. I would get them to a pond as soon as poss. though the spawning can go on for more than a week.
I know others here will disagree because of the possibility of transfering disease etc. this can't be anymore risky than one frog, or any animal visiting more than one pond.
Most will end up as part of the food chain anyway, that's why they lay so much spawn.
If only one survives, you will have helped.
Regards,
