I cant see the pic properly so didn't notice the limbs missing. |

I cant see the pic properly so didn't notice the limbs missing. | I'm pretty sure a Heron wouldn't mess about + swallow them whole. I suspect a Cat is more likely to just play with them + cause this damage ! |

Yes I have taken swabs and sent them to the person you requested.
I am sorry the pictures are not Macro but my camera is as good as I can afford so the detail is not so good.
There were no limbs missing, it just that the pictures were not so clear.
The darkness of the blood will probably be due to the time it took to take the photo's (2 days) as when they were first found the blood was very pale and appeared to be mixed with some other fluid.
I have had a cat problem in the past but I usually see the cat involved and I have not seen it for many months, since I installed an ultrasonic cat scarer and I do keep an eye out for it.
We do not have herons here.
The only birds around my garden have always lived very amicably along side the frogs and drink the water by hop onto the plant baskets.
There are no predatory birds around here and if there were, I feel sure they would have carried off their prey.
In some ways if it is a cat then at least I won't lose anymore frogs and I then have to increase my vigilance re watching for the cat. It is a big problem and there is always someone who will criticise you and say it is only natural for cats. |
