I know when I have taken them off fish the grip is such that I worried about damaging the Frogs | Yes Nightshade, the grip is very strong, I have only had to do this once,
but the fish was so badly damaged, I had to 'finish it off'. All scales had been removed and the body waisted just aft of the poor fish's gills.
Mind you, it was hilarious watching a male 'getting hold of' the floating thermometer and even funnier watching an unsuspecting female sitting on the edge of the pond, snatched off and taken into the pond by an amorous male.

| | | Re: Poor frog Spinal injuries like this are not that unusual in frogs (amphibians). I would'nt have said that this injury will automatically mean its going to die, it could have had it for years. If its receptive and in breeding condition (pale/blue throat) and has found its way to a pond, I dont think its being hindered that much. Of course its hard to make judgements without seeing the animal in the flesh. |
