| | | frog in my garden! we live in a town centre and there aren't any ponds near us, but we have a large composite heap out the back where i have been putting old hay and guinea pig poo etc on and have been turning it every few weeks and its pretty big - i just turned it again and this small frog jumped out - i have never in my ten years living here seen a frog before - i am just wondering where could it have come from and would it now stay in my garden? also now i am worried turning it with the fork in case i might hurt something which might be living in there! | | | Re: frog in my garden! ah right i didn't realise that - i only thought it was strange as we dont have any trees or ponds or anything to attract them into and i have never seen any wildlife by us in ten years - i shall now leave the composite alone - i will have to find another place to put my old hay etc in as we already have two composite heaps yeah its a great site x |

| | | Re: frog in my garden! Hi and welcome..
as Faz has said they only breed in water and live most of the time out and about in gardens.
I have a half barrel that the frogs use and have done for the last 4 years so they only need a small water body to breed in and this is not very big and does not involve any digging.
You can get barrels from garden centres. |

| | | Re: frog in my garden! thanks Kayleigh - i need to look into this a bit more as we have a cat who lives out doors most of the time he will probably pester the poor things when they come out of hibernation, so i am going to look into this a bit more and see what i can do to protect the frog etc. |
